What began as a simple search with something I felt truly connected with, now is a journey to help all those suffer from cancer. Cancer touches everyone's life at one point, whether it be family, a close friend or a neighbor we all experience the horrible battle some have to personally fight. My grandfather passed away 3 months ago from cancer, a man who fought in war, a air force mechanic, a chief claims operator, a father, and grandfather. A man who never had a bad day, one who loved the forest, loved all things life had to offer. What appeared as a simple fall, stroke or issue with his blood sugar turned too be a battle that would eventually claim his life. Family and love are what individuals need when they are told they have cancer, one of the best memories I have today is my grandfather smiling at me in his hospital bed, waiting for me to feed him breakfast after I got out of my shift. For him to turn to me and smile, place his hand on my leg and tell me "I am so proud of you".  Support is critical, support from family, physicians, nurses, care techs, friends, and now thanks to this project, I can be a part of that support for people.

My support began as I emailed Cancer support now, asking if it would be OK to help. Immediately I was contacted by Brittany Karnezis (Board Co-President), who explained of a wonderful event, a Gala on December 1st called "The Hope and Healing Honors". An event that is created to honor all those individuals who have provided care for people with cancer and their families. The committee was small and needed volunteers.

We met at Flying star, it was Myself and 3 other individuals, Brittany was also there. We discussed the possible volunteer opportunities mainly setup for the event. A charity silent auction as well as a benefit dinner was on the itinerary. We explained the duties of which I would come and help setup. After some discussion we chatted about the possible avenues of support in the next coming year we might be able to do. Mr. and Mrs. Powell were so kind, individuals who lend aid in all aspects possible, Spokespeople as well as an author. They enjoyed spending majority of their time in lending help, providing donations as well as wine donations for events. As we finalized the event we left off with a few pictures as well as the anticipation for this beautiful event.

Finally, the day for setup came, we piled into the conference room putting glitter, decorations and setting up for the silent auction. The room was filled with so much anticipation, and love for people trying to make this event one to remember. I helped setup the silent auction, placing cards with minimum bids next to each item, beautiful pieces of art, an Elvis Presley and Johnny cast plaque as well as amazing getaways to Pagosa Springs, even two tickets to the Santa Fe Opera. As we were finalizing everything one lady pulled out some cookies out of her bad, we all shared some only
